Quick Getaways {Hot Springs Edition}

Living in the Rockies means living near a hot springs – really, they are a stone’s throw away from most places.  Once you get past that lovely sulphur smell, you can soak up (literally) the properties of the springs that are so good for you, not the least of which is the view in most of these places! Hot springs are said to be rich in key minerals like sodium, magnesium, bicarbonate, calcium and sulfate, which have skin healing and muscle-relaxing properties.  Count us in!  And even though the water has traveled from Earth’s core (WOW!), the temperature of the water can be as high as 104 degrees!!

In the spirit of Father’s Day, here are some suggestions from us, sprinkled throughout the Rocky Mountain West for a quick getaway maybe … this weekend?

Glenwood Hot Springs in Colorado

So this first one is maybe a tad obvious.  HUGE, right along I-70, but it can’t be beat.

Mt. Princeton Hot Springs in Colorado –

Retro, but updated and really sweet and very nostalgic.  With the Collegiate Peaks surrounding you, the scenery here is out of this world.

Saratoga Resort and Spa in Wyoming

This place has it all – a microbrewery, a spa, and teepees that surround some of the hot springs pools!!  So fun for the kids.  Oh, let’s be honest, they bring out our inner Sacajaweas, too.

Diamond Fork Hot Springs in Utah –

Disclaimer – This is not a resort.  However, it is less than an hour’s drive from Salt Lake City, where you can stay here or here.  But back to Diamond Fork – some people consider this to be the best hot springs in the country.  Worth the hairy 2.5 mile hike probably.  It has a bonus cave, but beware for birthday suits here.

Lava Hot Springs in Idaho

This is a whole town, filled with resorts, and hot springs, and fun to boot.

We recommend staying at Home Hotel or Greystone Manor – and from what we’ve heard, watch out for alligators??!!?

Quinn Hot Springs in Montana

Quinn Hot Springs is in a place called Paradise!  Western Montana is pretty close to paradise for sure.

Chico Hot Springs in Montana

Another option in Montana, this one has a day spa and has a luxurious quality to it.
