In this season of soup, lots of recipes call for blending this or that, pureeing that and this. Make it smooth. See how creamy. Check out that lovely texture. Butternut squash soup, cauliflower puree, pea soup… the list is limitless.
But who has the guts to put their boiling pot of soup into a blender and push that button? The moment that makes your hot soup explode out of that blender and has you cleaning the ceiling off for weeks. There is a reason those recipes warn to wait until your pot of goodness cools.
Not I.
Curtain please… enter the immersion blender. It’s a beautiful invention, because you put the blender INTO your hot pot of soup. No exploding, no transferring into another vessel, no waiting for anything to cool. Just blend and be done with it. The first few times I tried it I was a little nervous that it would splatter, but it doesn’t and you get the hang of it quickly.
We have a long road ahead of us this soup season. So pick up an immersion blender or add it to your loved one’s gift list {for you}. You will love it, and your ceiling will, too.
This will go on my Christmas list. Good one.
