My Mountain Man and I have been married for almost 15 years. And naturally, as those years go by, we become more and more comfortable with each other. Comfortable going about our daily schedule. Comfortable giving all of our attention to our kids. Comfortable with little things we do for each other without showing our gratitude. All this to say, we just don’t give each other the love notes and sweet nothings like we used to.
When we were first married, I created a little box for him that I lovingly named “The Love Box”… just a place to put sweet notes of gratitude or a certificate for a spontaneous date night out or a lovey reminder. Cheese, yes. Drippy, yes. Fun, yes.
Well, that box has gotten dusty.
So in honor of the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday, I’m getting it out. Dusting it off. Filling it with sweet nothings that maybe he hasn’t heard in a long time. While he may not need to hear them, I just might be the one who needs to say them.
And dust it off. And write it down. And repeat.
