{Three-Cheese Fondue}

During this week of love, we’ve been considering a new Valentine tradition. One that you could enjoy with a love or a friend or kids or a group. One that offers options for every taste. And one that feels special.

Fondue. Perfect.

The three-cheese recipe we found here is just the right mix of sweet, tangy and creamy. And our favorite ceramic fondue pot is pretty and solid and works for chocolate or cheese.

We used cheese for our evening of fondue. Our dipping options were steak slices (pre-cooked), bread cubes, roasted potatoes, steamed broccoli and apple chunks. But consider other options like steamed asparagus, mushrooms, pears, and cherry tomatoes. If you decide to go the chocolate route, maybe strawberries, pound cake, graham crackers, banana chunks or marshmallows.

If fondue is in your stars this week, enjoy every morsel of that melted deliciousness. But mostly, enjoy who’s at the end of that dipping fork across the table.

Fondue 1 - Girls of a Feather

Three-Cheese Fondue Ingredients:

  • 1 cup white wine
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 7 oz Gruyere cheese, cubed
  • 7 oz sharp cheddar cheese, cubed
  • 7 oz Emmentaler cheese, cubed

Bring wine to a boil in a small saucepan.

Meanwhile, melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, and whisk in flour. Whisk constantly for about 5 minutes. Stir wine into mixture.

Slowly add cheese and continue to whisk until melted, and transfer to the fondue pot. Keep warm over low flame.
